Obituary for Albert DelVecchio

Albert Del Vecchio was born to Maggie and Frank Del Vecchio on November 28, 1926 in Eastchester, NY. He grew up on the same street as a young Camille Lanzetti, whom he married on October 17, 1948. After lying about his age, Albert enlisted in the Navy with his brother Frankie and became a member of the Seabees during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and was called back to serve in 1950 for the Korean War. He returned home in 1952, and he and Camille raised four children. In addition to being a lifelong New York Yankees fan, Albert was instrumental in the development of the Pony/Colt League field at Dunwoodie Park. He was coach, umpire and general handyman for many years. Albert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Camille, children Richard (Carol) Del Vecchio, Janice (Joseph) Molinero, Marianne (Thomas) Maloney and Judy (John) Fix, his 9 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by two brothers, Giacomo Del Vecchio and Daniel Del Vecchio, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his 10 other siblings. The wake will be on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Westchester Funeral Home from 9 am to 10 am. Christian burial immediately following at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NY State Veterans Home at Montrose, located at 2090 Albany Post Road, Montrose, NY 10548.
