Obituary for Janet R. Colabella

Janet R. Colabella, a lifelong resident of Eastchester, NY passed away on September 25, 2016 at the age of 80 after a short illness. She was born on July 6, 1936 in Mt. Vernon, NY to the late Edward I. and Velma M. (Peterson) Richardson. She is predeceased by her twin sister, Joann Wiggin and her younger sister, Velma Elfers. She is survived by her children Pamela C. Cooper (David) of Great Falls, VA and Nicholas Claude Colabella (Angela) of New Canaan, CT and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Michael. Janet was a graduate of Eastchester High School and Hunter College. She was an elementary and nursery school teacher and served as an assistant principal. She was a tremendously creative person, who also had a love for all animals especially cats, gardening and bridge. She was an avid sports fan, ever loyal to her beloved NY Mets and Giants. Family and friends may visit on October 1st from 4-7 PM at the Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester, NY. Interment will be private.
