Life Story/Notice
Arcadio was a good man, a tenacious worker, and a welcoming friend. Above all he was a family man. He understood that the shortest way to happiness was to be there for his children: educating them, being a role model, and often laughing and playing with them. He seemed inseparable from Maria, his wife. Their love, understanding and mutual respect was self evident. If you knew him, you would know that he was passionate about photography, fixing things, building things and enjoying life. The thousands of pictures he took over numerous years do tell his story better than a million words: he loved the family life, and he was a welcoming friend.

He was born in La Lima, Honduras just south of San Pedro Sula just a few miles from the Caribbean Sea. He was born to a humble family and enjoyed his childhood playing ball, hide-and-seek, flying kites and crashing Chinese New Year’s parades with his brothers Gilberto, Paulino and his sister Laura.

Although a man of humble beginnings, he was rich in skill and ingenuity. He was a self-taught carpenter, craftsman, builder and fixer of anything with steel and ball bearings. To watch him work was like watching a scientist deconstruct a problem and find its solution. His hard work and enthusiasm was inspiring and commanded respect.

He came to the United States in 1982 pursuing a better life for himself and his family. Armed with only his wit, street smarts, work ethic and charisma, he slowly built a career for himself. Along the way, he always took the time to give others the same opportunities he had and to teach them the lessons he had learned. He was eternally selfless and never hesitated to give anyone a helping hand.

Later in life, he found an enduring love in his wife Maria and his daughters Juliana and Sara. He was renewed with enthusiasm, passion, youth, and more importantly, happiness.

It is hard to imagine life without him. His spirit and kindness touched us all in very real ways. The same person you knew, was the same person he was throughout his life. In his last days he had the opportunity to say goodbye to his son Arcadio Jr., Rocio, their children, his sister Laura (who came from Italy to be nearby), and countless other relatives and friends. Arcadio was a best friend to many people. He leaves a big void, especially in his family. He will always live in our hearts. We will never forget him.

Thank you for having been a good man and so great to us.
