Linda Maria Backstrand Sargent passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Calvary Hospital. She was born May 10, 1950 in New York City to Aino and Elis Backstrand. Linda was a graduate of PS #15 in Crestwood, Walt Whitman and Roosevelt High School and Attended Mills College and Marymount College. She was the personnel manager and assistant secretary at Magnetic Analysis Corporation in Elmsford, NY. Linda enjoyed gardening, baking, crafts and spending time with her family. She is survived by her mother, Aino Backstrand, sister Kathryn Sandvik (Carl) in PA., niece Elisa Truscott (Brian) in Texas, nephew Karl Erik (Jasmine) Sandvik in North Dakota and a grand niece Aila Kathryn Truscott in Texas, and many relatives and friends in Finland, Sweden, Denmark along with USA . She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother Maria Nisumaa and her father Elis Backstrand .
