Louis F.  Caviolo
Louis F. Caviolo 85, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 after a long illness. He was born on September 7, 1931 in Yonkers, NY to the late George Caviolo and Frances LaRosa. Louis grew up in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Gorton High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Force during the Korean War. He attended New York University where he received his B.S. in 1960 and his M.A. in 1964. He received NYS Permanent Certification as a guidance counselor and supervisor of Industrial Arts Education which he taught at Gorton High School for 36 years. He served on the NYS Grievance Committee for 9th District; appointed by Supreme Court Judge Milton Mollen from 1979-1984. He was elected to the Executive Board of the Yonkers Federation of Teachers and served on the contract negotiating committee for over 30 years. A charter member of Westchester-Putnam C.L.B.-AFL-CIO. Served as Chairman of the Westchester Central Body Political Action Committee for many years. He was elected Executive Board Member and Vice President of Westchester County Central Labor Body for over 30 years. Life member of the AMVETS; VFW, NRA, American Legion and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Westchester Union Local #11. Served on the Board of Directors and President of Golf View Condominium Association. Owned and managed a dry cleaning business d/b/a Pondfield Cleaners in Bronxville NY. He received a Commission from Governor Hugh Carey of New York State on November 1981, as a Second Lieutenant in the NYS Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the rural country life at his summer home in Williamstown, NY with family and friends.
Louis is survived by his brother Joseph Caviolo of Putnam Valley, NY; his sister Florence Hannon of Wappingers Falls, NY; his sister Rosemary Demetriou of Westerly, RI; his companion Patricia Dorgan and his cousin Laura Cerasi of Eastchester, NY; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. EASTCHESTER Friday, October 28, 2016, 2-4 and 7-9pm. Prayer Service, Saturday October 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at Westchester Funeral Home, Inc., Eastchester. Interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
